Shasama Fermetures provides industrial sectional door repairs in Chevilly-Larue and Val-de-Marne, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: broken or slack spring, a cable off its drum, a door too heavy to lift, bent shaft, worn bearing or a motor that hums without starting. Springs and cables are replaced in pairs, tension is adjusted with suitable tools and the anti-fall device is checked, all after approval of a written quote before work.

Simply call us on 01 87 66 40 33 to describe the fault. As soon as you call, a qualified technician heads to your site in Chevilly-Larue, carrying common spare parts: our teams have 24 years of experience.

Industrial sectional door spring and cable replacement in Chevilly-Larue

On a door that opens dozens of times each day, on the market side or in warehouses, torsion springs and lifting cables wear first. Shasama Fermetures identifies the spring from a photo of the top of the door (torsion on the shaft or extension along the tracks), brings springs matching the existing dimensions, releases tension with suitable tools, replaces both springs and both cables, checks drums, shaft and bearings, then adjusts the balance and anti-fall device before full testing. A bent shaft or loose bearing can be changed during the same visit without replacing the door.

On motorised doors, we also repair the shaft-mounted motor: replacing a capacitor alone, or repairing or replacing a AFCA, GFA, NICE or Somfy circuit board, as on our Chevilly-Larue job where the shaft, springs and motor were replaced. For market loading bays, we supply wheel chocks and dock seals. An industrial sectional door maintenance contract monitors spring wear before breakage.

Spring and cable wear is measured in cycles

A cycle is one opening and one closing. Manufacturers specify springs by model: according to Novoferm, the torsion-spring models in its insulated range are rated for 30,000 cycles, with an option of around 200,000 cycles.

Indicative lifespan of a 30,000-cycle spring according to daily cycles
Cycles per day (every day)Indicative lifespan of a 30,000-cycle spring
Cycles per day (every day)10Indicative lifespan of a 30,000-cycle springabout 8 years
Cycles per day (every day)25Indicative lifespan of a 30,000-cycle springabout 3 years
Cycles per day (every day)50Indicative lifespan of a 30,000-cycle springabout 1½ years

Actual lifespan depends on the model, door weight, adjustment and maintenance.

Springs, cables and anti-fall device: what replacement includes

Springs

Torsion springs on a shaft above the opening, or extension springs along the tracks: a photo of the top of the door identifies them. New springs match the existing dimensions and identification plate; they are replaced in pairs, then tensioned with suitable tools, never by hand.

Cables

Replaced in pairs, with a check of the drums they wind around. A cable off its drum remains tensioned by the springs: never put it back by hand.

Anti-fall device

This device arrests the door if a spring or cable breaks: it is checked after any work on the springs or cables.

Testing

Full opening and closing cycles, adjustments, then complete testing before return to service.

Warehouse doors in Chevilly-Larue: your questions

A sectional door squeaks: should I stop it?

Squeaking alone often comes from rollers or hinges; a door that strains, slows or enters safety mode should be stopped. Note where in its travel the noise appears: this points towards rollers, tracks or balancing.

A sectional door shaft is bent or broken: what should I do?

Stop the door and, if motorised, disconnect the motor’s power: the shaft carries the torsion springs and cable drums and transfers spring force to the door. Never dismantle it yourself, as the springs remain under tension: the technician releases them with suitable tools, then fits a new shaft matching the old dimensions without replacing the door. On our Chevilly-Larue job, the shaft was replaced with the springs and motor.

Can a worn sectional door shaft bearing be replaced?

Yes. Bearings support the shaft at each end and often in the centre on a wide door; a worn, cracked or loose bearing allows play in the shaft. The technician replaces it after securing the door and releasing spring tension, and diagnosis determines whether the shaft, damaged by this play, needs changing too.

A rented warehouse: who pays for door repairs, landlord or tenant?

Responsibility depends on the lease and the nature of the repair. Confirm the payer with the landlord or manager; we address the quote to the designated person before any work.

A loading bay wheel chock: when should it be fitted and removed?

Place it against a rear wheel on the side away from the dock as soon as the lorry is docked and before opening the door; remove it only when loading is complete and the dock is clear. A lorry moving forward during loading creates a gap between dock and trailer where a forklift can fall. If the chock is missing or broken, we supply wheel chocks and chocking systems for loading bays.

A sectional door motor capacitor: how do I know whether it needs replacing?

On a single-phase motor, a tired capacitor often causes humming without starting, or difficulty starting. Disconnect the power and leave it alone: a capacitor can retain charge when switched off, and a brake, control panel or the motor itself can give similar signs. When diagnosis identifies it, we replace the capacitor alone without changing the motor.
